What is LeRoc Modern Jive 

LeRoc Modern Jive is the name of a modern partner dance that can be danced to modern, chart,  in fact the majority of popular music.  Using moves similar to those found in SALSA, Ballroom and the Latin dances but  modified so they can be danced to most types of music.  LeRoc is the ultimate in partner dancing, easy to get started, looks great and taught in a modern friendly way that means you don't need to bring a partner.  Often When people think of Jive they think of 'Rock n Roll Jive', this is a totally different, smoother, modern dance  - Please see our dance demonstrations.

Our Aim is to offer the highest level of modern Jive Instruction in the area.   

You are probably aware that virtually all types of dancing has footwork.  Dancing footwork helps keep time and stops the need to bounce, (that is often seen in modern jive).  We teach the LeRoc Modern Jive federation footwork - approved by the UKA.  This  basic easy to learn footwork enables dancers to dance to time, with structure and allows Style to be added.  Dancers are able to raise their own personal ability but are still able to dance with dancers from other modern jive venues across the UK.   Please note the majority of modern jive venues do not teach footwork, not all LeRoc venues are members of the the UKA or the LeRoc Federation. 

Our Instructors

All our venue instructors are trained in line with the standards and format approved by the UKA  (this may not include guest instructors).  We encouraged our instructors to sit the professional examination and become members of the UKA, and the LeRoc Federation. Guest instructors are expected to be of a high standard, and have had some formal modern jive instructor training.  No matter how good their dancing or past experience is, we want our students to receive a  high consistent level of instruction and even guest Instructors should have had some instructor training.
