Instructor course 2010

Become a Professional Dancer / Instructor.  UKA qualified Modern Jive Instructors are recognized as highly trained professionals.  This is the only professional qualification available for Modern Jive instructors and the course gives you the back ground training to pass the UKA qualification and become a member of the 'United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of dance'.  UKA qualified instructors have a vast knowledge of the dance are are often in high demand.

The course teaches potential instructors about :

Teaching:       A structured lesson, Breaking down moves, Safety, Teaching moves to time (important in any dance).....

The Structure of the dance:    Obtaining tension & compression (its importance for freestyle dancing), turning & returning correctly, multiple turns.......

Modern Jive:      Joining moves correctly, The correct footwork ( creates a much smoother dance), the fundamentals & consistency that make Modern Jive moves work in freestyle (what works & what doesn't), even beginner moves if taught correctly have a consistent structure, plus  an insight into teaching / dancing as the opposite sex (instructors must be able to teach both the lead & follow parts of the dance, plus its  good fun).

Other information

You need to have been dancing a minimum 2 years;

Cost for the course is £250 (£350 a couple), Venue owners its FREE (if they take the exam).

Course runs for 5 days - if you miss a day it can be repeated at a small additional fee.

Deposit of £50 per person (non refundable except in exceptional circumstances)

We need a minimum of 6 people to run the course

UKA membership can also include Public liability insurance for around £100pa

There is a cost for sitting the exam around £60-£70 not included in the instructor course cost.

Johnny will be running the course who is a Professional Qualified Dancer / Instructor and a Full member of the 'United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teacher of dance'.
